The images are segmented into a set of arbitrary-shaped homogeneous image regions by JSEG algorithm, from which the color and texture features are extracted, and Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM) are built for skin and non-skin region classification according to a decision rule (taking color and texture features into account synthetically).
