Cationic modification of ramie before spinning of wool/ramie blending yarn was applied in improving the union dyeing of the blends.

For wool,the dye uptake and the colour yield (K/S) reached or exceeded that dyed at boiling with the selected acid dyes and reactive dyes;for union dyeing of wool/silk blends,the system resulted in improved union colour without jeopardizing the dye fastness.
