To solve the problem of inefficiency of implementing embedded block coding in JPEG 2000, a novel fast algo- rithm to achieve word-level sequential and parallel bit plane coding (BPC) was proposed.

Through numerical simulation regarding the impacts of the shape,width and level order of structure elements on the performance of mathematical morphology filters, this method can eliminate the interference in MOA leakage current and the processed results,and keep the local characteristic of the original signal as well.
